We love it when projects come along that require a more personal, customised approach. Jobs that are not 'straight forward' represent a challenge that we really enjoy here at Instaco. These jobs tests our skills, draws on our experience and relies on our great tradespeople and project managers.
This Brisbane family had a great challenge matching in with existing rooflines on both a double story section and single story level, with the added addition of a new hardwood timber deck!
Together with the customer, we came up with a double roof patio solution. Two skillion roof lines that could accommodate the total roof area, without intruding on the existing outlook or louvre screens on the upstairs windows. We designed the patio in such a way that we now had 4 roof lines (2 existing, 2 new) that worked in together beautifully and looked aesthetically pleasing from all angles.
We chose a 50mm insulated panel for the roof structure to maximise comfort levels for the deck below and matched the precise angle of the existing roof line for symmetry and style. Using super strong 200mm beams due to long span lengths, our customer has a fully engineered roof with 25 years warranty!
The correct overlapping of roof lines was critical as we needed to shelter the deck from rain, allow plenty of air to circulate and of course ensure that all guttering was in place to carry rainwater safely away via well placed downpipes.
We used 100mm square engineered hardwood timber posts throughout to match in with the earthy tones of the brickwork. The 38 qsm deck was completed with 140x19mm Australian Hardwood planks supported by engineered timber beams and timber joists.
