This delightful family were looking to extend their living space. This insulated flyover skillion patio roof proved to be just the ticket.
Being a single level home, the height of the eaves sometimes won't allow a patio roof to be fitted from under the eave. This is the perfect opportunity to consider a 'flyover' style patio roof. A Flyover roof is where a skillion roof extends over and passed the existing roofline. The idea is you get more height to the underside of your patio roof, creating a feeling of openness, as well as ensuring no rain can get down in between rooflines.
Flyover roof patios uses a long beam over the existing roof supported by special brackets that attach to the roof frame below. The outer edge/beam is supported by new posts either bolted to an exosting slab or with footings into ground.
We used a 50mm insulated roof panel and added 6 downlights to provide plenty of light under the patio at night - great for entertaining! All teh posts and gutters were matched to the same green colour of the house.
We allowed a generous overhang on teh outer side for maximum roof size and protection from the elements.
